There He Goes; Here He Is

Then I will remove my hand, and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen.
(Exodus 33:23)

This statement from God to Moses reminds me of the famous Footprints poem.

We really don't see God coming at us.  He doesn't appear like Superman.  He doesn't announce His arrival.  And often, His plan is not the same as ours.

Rather, we see Him clearest when we look back.  When we realize that He was there in a situation we thought He avoided.   When we understand that He held us and guided us during life's obstacles and difficulties.

The truth is, He will never abandon us.

As He tells Joshua (1:9)
For the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go

May the Lord be with, and Bless, all of you.

Michael,
Yes, I have noticed this too. When I look back now I can see God's hand but I did not have the wisdom to recognize it when I was young. Thanks for the great post!

God's presence doesn't usually hit us like a sledgehammer; it almost never knocks us off our horse as happened to Saul. Yes, we must learn to recognize the subtle ways God intervenes in out lives. Looking back, I can see many times that happened for me. At the time, though, I was oblivious.

You're so right Michael.

I've been praying for a while now ... I'm sure at some time in future I'll realise He's beside me right now.

God bless.

PMG, I'm really sure God wasn't the cause of all the times I've fallen off my horse- although, perhaps He was and it was His way of humbling me....hmmmm....
The hard part is seeing that some of the times we thought were "bad" times, were also part of God's plan for us.

That is so true. God always has, and always will provide for us.

You're right. I can always see Him in hindsight, and that has made my faith firmer, and my worries less.

I am secure in His love for me and never once have I cast any blame on Him for anything that has happened. I know that pain is a part of life. My remorse is that I've caused Him pain.
