I Wonder

I wonder what it was like to go from "nobodies" to the Earthly parents of the Most Important Person Ever to Grace the Earth.  In the blink of an eye.

I wonder what plans Mary and Joseph had for their future - before God laid out His plan.

Speaking of, I wonder what it was like to be sitting there minding your own business only to look up and see the Angel Gabriel speaking to you.

I wonder what it was like when Mary saw that Elizabeth was indeed pregnant.

I wonder how hard it was for Joseph to believe, when human logic told him otherwise.

I wonder what it was like to travel 100 miles while very pregnant (and with a very pregnant wife).

I wonder exactly what that nativity scene looked like.

I wonder what it was like - to wonder what it would be like - to raise the Savior of the World.

I wonder what message God is sending us by choosing such an "ordinary" family, and modest setting, for the birth of His only Son.

I hope you are enjoying the wonder of this Advent season.

God Bless.

Michael,
I was listening to Pandora radio today and the song I Wonder As I Wander came on. It made me think about some of these things you mention here, but also that as we wander through this earthly exile we should do it with a sense of wonder. Thanks for this food for meditation, reflection and wonder.
Happy Gaudete Sunday!

Great post Michael. I wrote about Mary's journey being nine months pregnant last week. I love the questions that you are wondering about. This is the season for wondering, for being amazed, and for miracles. Thanks.

It all sounds very difficult, from beginning to end.

This is why God did not chose me.

He has better judgment than that.

Michael, you do have an unusual and striking way of putting things. How do you come up with these ideas? Do you have this ability to put a twist on an idea in the non-blogging part of your life (work or whatnot)? It's a good ability to have.

I have often thought about this to. They must have been so scared. They were given such a hugh responsibility. Then to lose their son the way they did... When I feel overwhelmed with life I think of Mary especially and then my problems don't seem as big as I thought they were. I hope you have a wonderful week. God bless you Michael.

I wonder, too, Michael :) Especially about the 100 miles while very pregnant!

Karinann: I will have to play that one. Not that I need any help wondering. If I wrote all the many things I wonder about, I'd probably have to ask Google for more space on their server!

Anne/DG: Very clever ;)

Andie: I enjoyed your post very much. Thanks for the comment.

Penny: You and me both! As for your other question ... I can only answer that it is through God. He either puts these thoughts in my head, or convinces you that they are interesting!! (Thank you for the compliment though!)

Carol: Great point, I haven't even gotten to the "lost Son" thing. Its so easy to think of the Nativity and childhood of Christ in a fairy-tale way. I often forget all the hardships that went along with it!

Mary: Obviously I can't relate. I can only thank the Blessed Mother for enduring it all for us.
